Sweepstake Rules as of 1/01/2023

The UARC Sweepstakes program recognizes its members in various ways. One of the ways you can participate in our Sweepstakes program is by showing your angoras in ARBA Sanctioned Shows, and UARC Specialty Shows (by entering in breed and/or wool classes as a bonus).

Sweepstakes Rules (Breed/Wool):

Section 1: Eligibility

To qualify for United Angora Rabbit Club sweepstakes points, the exhibitor must be a member of the United Angora Rabbit Club or join before the judging starts. If an individual applies for membership and is accepted, their points will begin on the Quarter that their membership application is approved and run for the length of the remaining quarters.

Section 2: Membership

A member’s name and address as listed on the show entry must match the United Angora Rabbit Club membership record.

Memberships will be classified as adults (upon 19th birthday) or youth.

A youth membership conforms to the ARBA requirements for youth.

Section 3: Youth Sweepstakes

A youth may show in an open or youth show. All points earned will count toward the youth sweepstakes. Unless the youth must notify the Sweepstakes Chairman immediately in writing to have their points applied to the Open Sweepstakes Program.

If a youth chooses to show as an individual in the open, they must decide if they want their sweepstakes points calculated for the open (adult) or the youth.

A youth must show in the open class immediately upon turning 19, but the club sweepstakes points will continue to be counted in the youth category by the UARC until the end of that points season.

Youth may not compete in both open and youth sweepstakes the same year.

Section 4: Follow up.

Sweepstakes results will be calculated and posted quarterly (4X a year) by the UARC Sweepstakes Chairperson.

Sweepstakes standings will be posted on the UARC Website on a designated Sweepstakes page.

Prizes for top Sweep placements will be distributed at the end of each calendar year.

Section 5: Submission of Show Reports

Show reports will be submitted to the Sweepstakes Chair by participating members via email or snail mail. Contact information for Show Secretaries will be included in ALL reports so that results can be verified and confirmed as needed. If the numbers of rabbits shown are not in the show report, a leg certificate can be used as proof, or written correspondence from that show secretary.

Upon receipt of show reports, the Sweepstakes chair will send email confirmations to members to save and print their own records.

TIP: There is a free app called CamScanner you can take a high-quality photo of your reports and then email a PDF from your smartphone. Actual photos aren’t always clear. Reports must be readable to count. This app converts it to a PDF. Or you can forward them to me when you receive them from the show secretary.

Sweepstakes submission deadlines are quarterly. Each UARC member is responsible for submitting their own show reports (for Breed and Wool entries). ALL ARBA shows count toward this sweepstakes. (Not just those sanctioned with NARBC) For sweeps to count in 2023, you must submit your reports via email to the above address by the deadlines below:

*Shows occurring Jan-Feb-March submit BY APRIL 30.

*Shows occurring April-May-June submit BY JULY 31.

*Shows occurring July-Aug-Sept submit BY OCTOBER 31.

*Shows occurring Oct-Nov-Dec submit BY JAN 31 *which is the final year deadline.

Section 6: Sweepstake Year
The sweepstakes year will run from January 31 through January 31.

Section 7: Wool Classes

If you show in wool classes, you may as well get credit for them too. Both colored and white wool will compete together in quality points.

A rabbit must be shown in the breed class before it can be entered in the wool competition. If a rabbit is disqualified in the breed class, it cannot compete in the wool class.
